SUMMARY:Canine Osteoarthritis Diagnosis: Refining your examination and gait analysis skills (1.5 hrs CE)
DESCRIPTION:This lecture will aid the general practitioner in improving orthopedic examination skills including observational and hands on techniques. We will focus on isolating specific pathology\, for example distinguishing iliopsoas strain from coxofemoral joint pain\, or lumbosacral pain. Gait analysis as a diagnostic tool will be covered with video examples. \n  \nSpeakers: \nDr. Patsy Mich \nDVM\, MS DABVP\, DACVAA\, DACVSMR\, CCRT·Canine Sports Medicine and Mobility \nDr. Mich is a small animal pain management and mobility specialist. Her career focuses on regaining/maintaining comfort\, functional independence and performance for canine athletes of all ages and abilities.   After graduating from Colorado State University\, she worked as a general practitioner becoming board certified by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (canine/feline specialty) in 2002. Pursuing an interest in pain management\, she completed residency in anesthesiology and 2-year fellowship in integrative pain medicine in 2009.  She became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Anesthesia and Analgesia in 2009. Following an interest in mobility medicine as a tool for managing pain and functional deficiency\, Dr. Mich certified as a Canine Rehabilitation Therapist in 2012 and became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation in 2015.   Always chasing knowledge\, Dr. Mich credits her expanded awareness of the importance of soft tissue pathology to training/working with physical therapists. As a faculty member at the Canine Rehabilitation Institute she teaches veterinarians\, physical therapists\, and veterinary technicians the art and science of rehabilitation\, chronic pain management\, and veterinary orthotics and prosthetics.   Dr. Mich is a pioneering veterinarian in the emerging field of Veterinary Orthotics and Prosthetics (VOP) since 2009. She has co-owned a fabrication facility\, worked on development and design of novel solutions (e.g. Achilles mechanism management)\, and teaches nationally and internationally on this topic.   Dr. Mich owns a mobile to clinic specialty practice in Colorado.
