SUMMARY:Canine Joint Injections: Why Should Horses Have All the Fun? (1hr CE)
DESCRIPTION:Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent condition affecting between 20-40% of dogs\, significantly impacting their quality of life. While joint injections are a standard treatment in equine and human medicine\, they remain underutilized in small animal practice. This lecture explores the role of intra-articular injections in OA management\, covering patient selection\, sedation and preparation\, injection techniques\, and therapeutic option. Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of how to incorporate joint injections into their practice to improve patient outcomes. \nSpeakers: \nDr. Jen Repac \nDVM\, CVA\, CCRT\, CVCH·University of Florida \nDr. Jennifer Repac received her DVM from the University of California Davis in 2009. She spent her first 4 years in general practice and shelter medicine in New York City. She then spent 2 years working as a veterinarian and teacher for a small animal practice in Beijing. Her love for teaching abroad led her to complete an Integrative and Rehabilitative Medicine specialty internship followed by a residency at the Animal Medical Center of New York. She is now a clinical assistant professor at a leading veterinary university.   Dr. Repac is a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation (DACVSMR). She is also certified in canine chiropractic\, Chinese herbal medicine\, and acupuncture.
