Background:
Osteoarthritis (OA) represents one of the most common conditions treated by equine practitioners.
Despite this high prevalence, no approved pharmacological intervention, biological therapy, or procedure prevents or reverses progressive destruction of degenerative joints.
Intra-articular injectable 2.5% polyacrylamide hydrogel (iPAAG®), which consists of biocompatible non-degradable synthetic polymers, have been introduced with reported clinical efficacy.
