Sophie is a 12-year-old Staffy cross with an adventurous spirit. Adopted from Miami Dade by professional rider Kate Leggat in Wellington, FL.
Whether at the barn or exploring at the cottage, Sophie has always been an active and energetic companion, but over time, she started to show signs of discomfort. After long naps or in the mornings, she would limp or even hold up a leg, struggling to move freely and put weight on the forelimb. Veterinary visits confirmed severe arthritis in both elbows, and the only treatment options offered were NSAIDs, which provided little relief. Kate knew there had to be a better solution, on the recommendation of her equine vet and now husband Dr. Bryan Dubynsky she took Sophie on a roadtrip to see Bryan’s vet school classmate Dr. Mathew Brunke, a specialist in canine joint treatments, who injected Arthramid into both her elbows.
“The biggest difference? She hasn’t taken a lame step since! It’ll be two years this summer, and she’s still going strong,” says Kate.
Since her treatment, Sophie has regained her mobility and zest for life. She runs, plays, and explores the farm with the same enthusiasm she had as a puppy.
For Kate, seeing Sophie happy and pain-free has been an incredible relief.
“She’s my shadow—she goes everywhere with me. It was heartbreaking to see her struggling, but now, watching her run around every day makes me so happy.”
Sophie’s journey is a testament to the impact Arthramid can have on animals suffering from joint pain. Whether it’s a performance horse or a beloved family pet, this treatment is helping animals stay active and comfortable for longer.
